Every day we make choices. Some choices are mundane: what to wear or which route to take to work. There are more complicated choices: where to study, what profession to choose, with whom to connect with, etc. And there are choices that people are not always given to make, such as their place of birth or ethnicity. Do we always have the right to choose? How do external circumstances affect our decisions? And most importantly, how does our choice affect the lives of others?
During the city walk, we will look at the figures of famous Rivne residents through the prism of their life decisions — conscious and forced, supported or broken by external circumstances. We will talk not so much about people as about their choices that influenced their personal fate, the fate of the city and the country.
The main characters of the walk will be those who have different backgrounds, worldviews and life paths, but are united by Rivne:
- Nil Khasevych is an artist and fighter whose choice became a symbol of disobedience;
- Zuzanna Ginczanka is a poet whose voice embodies the tragedy and greatness of cultural heritage;
- Seraphim Kashuba is a priest who chose the path of service and spiritual resistance;
The trajectories of our heroes’ lives will help us understand that historical heritage is not only about preserved objects, but also about decisions, experiences, and values that continue to influence us today.
Duration of the walk: about two hours.
